Sermon Excerpt - August 24, 2008
For me, it is not enough to say “I believe in God” or “I believe there is a God.”
People do all kinds of hateful things in the name of God.
The real question is what kind of God do you believe in?
I believe in the God I see in Jesus Christ.
Even when the gates of hell are opened and all its negative fury is unleashed,
it cannot prevail against the Body of Christ.
We have the key to open heaven so its power and energy flows into earth
making ineffective the forces of evil.
For me, the church is long-term training in dealing with the big, deep,
not easily answered questions, the questions Jesus posed for us,
and then listening for what God unfolds in the soul.
